bargunner
Was wondering if anyone ever bought from these guys? They cut the receiver in 3 pieces so I don't think their is any issue in getting it in. http://dewat.kiev.ua/index_en.html
Lancer
Yes there are issues. I think it would be ill-advised to try to import even just parts.
MG08
It is still importing. Need a form 6 approved to do legally. They do sneak in, but I would not want to gamble my money on it. If you are going to import, you might as well go in Big.
The Lone Ranger
You cannot bring the barrel in and if the receiver is cut as pictured, it won't fly. Needs three cuts, in different locations with a torch displacing 1/4 inch metal unless you get an alternate method approved.
2ndArmored
This topic has been brought up multiple times. Kinda like the AR-15 you bought at the Phoenix gun show is fine as long as it stays in AZ. Once it comes into Krazyfornia, you're asking for trouble. Can you do it? Yup. Is it worth it? Your call. Will he sell it to you anyway? Maybe. What's kosher in Europe (the UK has loads of dewatted Thompsons, BAR's, etc) is a no-go here. Their standards are different. The bolt, barrel, etc are buggered up anyway. Buy a kit and a dummy receiver from Bob or Doug. Not as historically intact, but less risky.
reconbob
I agree. This guy - and others - are in compliance with their local laws. Once they get their moneythey could care less if the stuff makes it through customs. As was mentioned technically you are attemptingto import "arms, armaments, or implements of war" and for that you need a couple thousand dollars worthof licenses, filling out of Forms, etc. I think little stuff gets in all the time - things like compensators or actuators, even drums etc. which are noteasily recognized as gun parts on an x-ray or similar scan. Remember, since 9/11 everything gets scanned.I think it would be pretty obvious what was in the box if you bought a complete gun with cut receiver. The question is, do they just intercept and confiscate your parts set and leave you alone? Or do theydecide to be tough? I am sure I mentioned this before but back in the 1970's there was a guy in Canada (I will never forgetthe town the guy was in - Swastika, ONT - I am not kidding!) who advertised in The Shotgun News (longbefore the internet) and would sell you a complete gun kit WITH receiver and he did only one neat hacksawcut to the receiver behind the lock up where it would be easier to weld. He had everything from submachineguns to .50 Cal. M2's. He was legal in Canada but of course not legal to ship down here but he did it anyway. He was such a headache for ATF that they shut him down but it took them a while. anjong-ni
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=442649070 Well, it's not a Thompson, but if you have ONE single welding rod...you can be using this in an hour. From Alabama, USA. Why buy from Ukraine?....Phil
