Jim,

Great PD guns and a clever barrel tool.

I've been looking for some tools on Ebay and Gbroker and thinking

about making my on.

Very nice,

Darryl

I have a nice Remington 81 in .300 Savage. It's a heavy beast, but has been accurate and reliable with my 150gr reloads. It took me a while to get used to the 'Thunk-cha-chunk' of the long-recoil action operating.

Sure be nice to see a Lebman 351 conversion in your great collection there, Jim. Didn't know you had scored a 81. You and Darryl & CJL aught to get together, shoot an ultimate gun photos

I guess I'll be 5 or 6. Got one in the 10K ser. range. in a collection I bought. Not much interest in any police or gangster collection, but I have it to go with my Chauchat and the rest of my Browning collection. It's a light gun with heavy recoil. Got the book, tool, and a stripper clip that I paid more than what I spent on the gun? Cabela's stocks 35 rem. I have not shot it for accuracy, but I'm not expecting much after tearing it completely down and looking at the design. Easy to see why they didn't sell many between the design and the cost. The book was well worth the money. I was also surprised at how many parts were numbered....almost like the Germans made them. Excellent whitetail gun for sure.

Johnson,

Congratulations, did you get an 8 or 81??

Any gun that John Browning designed is an interesting gun.

I have not shot any factory loads. The first thing I bought after the gun was reloading dies. With the 200 gr Hornady and 35 gr 3031, I have hit some 3.5 inch groups at 100 yds. Considering my age and iron sights I consider it quite accurate.

Post a pic if you get a chance.

Darryl,

Thank you sir for the kind words.

I had a Model 8 back in the early 80's and sold it or traded it off or who knows what. You know how it is. After 40 years you can't remember what happened to some of the things you had and you can't remember where you got some of the things you have.

But I always regretted getting rid of that rifle. I've always liked the Model 8. It's just a neat rifle and it's ties to police use and the B&C ambush just makes it neater.

Anyway, I was talking to my oldest gun collector friend one night and mentioned how I always wanted to pick up another Model 8. He told me his brother had a pretty nice one he would be willing to part with. I found this odd since his brother never seemed to me to be a gun person. He said he'd probably sell it for what he had in it. When I asked how much he said $275.00. A couple days later he had $275.00 and I had the rifle.

I have a Model 81 in .35 Remington. I have had it for 25 or 30 years. It came with the original box. It has a little rash on one side from sitting in the box for many years. I don't remember what I paid for it. I have only shot it a few times. I got it and a Model 07 Winchester within a couple of years of each other. I think they are both very interesting guns.

David, about time you got a Winchester 07- Good job. Now you can join the John Dillinger Died For You Society, founded by Horace Naismith, AKA William J. Helmer .

Good looking couple.

Maybe a Colt mini submachine gun with a CJL conversion is next in your growing collection- I have a list if you want.

John would be proud, so would Baby Face & Pretty Boy.
