koz5614
While perusing GB auctions tonight, I spied an unusual Model 60. The first thing that struck me was that the barrel looks extremely short. It looks similar to the factory barrel, but is about the length of a Model 50 barrel. It appears to have an early stock (two screw trigger guard, small takedown screw), but a later selector lever. From the limited pics it looks like whoever built it did a good job; that short barrel makes t look really balanced. Am I wrong to think this barrel is sub 16" and therefore would be an SBR? ron_brock
That is a good looking Reising. The barrel may be 16 inches but I have some doubts. I'd sure ask to stretch out a tape before bidding. Ron
n64atlas
Looks short to me as well. Might be a M55 barrelHere is mine along side my M50:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/n64atlas/6f48af18-a526-4fcc-b52d-7abef4898eda_zps05418a1d.jpg
koz5614
I think a Model 50 barrel measures around 14" from the breech to the comp. I'm going to estimate that Model 60 barrel to be around same length.
n64atlas
Do you mean Model 55? The model 60 is longer than 14" , it is over 16" to make it a title one firearm.

koz5614
The description indicates an 18.25" barrel, which is correct for a Model 60. Just not this particular Model 60, which unless it is an optical illusion or it has a super-long stock forend, appears to be a lot shorter than a standard 60 barrel. The information given in the description appears to be a condensed version of Frank Iannamico's article in SAR, with mention of "...radial cooling fins, and ...2nd design receivers..." To paraphrase ron_brock, "I'd have to stretch a tape on that one".
doc280
I agree it does look short. Let me point out, not one of the pictures shows the top of the barrel, where the barrel meets the receiver or the chamber. Seeing these could provide insight to what is going on here.
