NDLawyer
This isn't Thompson related, but considering all of the recent posts about ebay I couldn't resist. I am still trying to find out if the F-18 came with the original white factory lettering. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif http://news.findlaw.com/ap/o/fe/1120/2-16-...6044501_09.html

M1tommygun
I do know one thing, my jarhead brother could most likely assemble and have the F-18 in flight condition, with the right tools, in no time. He has worked on them for the last 19 years. Of course, after that long he may not want to see another one after he retires from the Marines http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif . DougStump
Y'all remember the additions to the defense appropriations bill that require the demil of "significant" military items? The guy selling the F-18 is the cause of it (he also had an F-16). The DOD is trying to shut this guy down. BTW, both jets had been crashed. Very doubtful is either one could be restored to flight status, they why teh military junked them in the first place. Doug
DougStump
Phil, The info I received on the F-18/F-16 for sale and the part of the defense bill came from Air Force Museum channels. While that guy was the start of the ruckus, he's not the entire problem. You're right, there is just no way a private citizen could maintain that jet, unless Bill Gates wanted a new toy! BTW, what plane did you have? I used to maintain F-111's for a while in the Air Force (along with some others). Doug
