Haenelistklasse
Hello, I was just wondering how hard it is to replace a sear on an MP40? Will any original WW2 sear work? Or must it be the same maker? Take care, Haenelistklasse
Black River Militaria CII
Fairly simple to do, but for what reason? Vintage parts should be fine but need to be checked for conditionl of sear lip for chips, rounded wear, etc, etc.
huggytree
Bergflak May have the part Many of his parts are nos. My gun is heavily used and the sear looks perfect. What happened ? Edited April 23, 2018 by huggytree
Haenelistklasse
I was firing a couple of my 40's the other day and from time to time had a runaway with one. It seemed to me that the trigger kind of got "stuck". The sear looks good so I changed out the recoil spring assembly but I had the same problem again. Any ideas as to what this could be? huggytree
trigger spring? http://www.bergflak.com/mp/bs7.html whole group is $120 from Bergflak fbp bolt?? i hear they run away often Bob is the mp40 expert here, but there isnt much to that gun...its the bolt or sear not working if its running away id think
Petroleum 1
Haenel...its very easy to get the lower apart to inspect the trigger group. The sear could be getting stuck in the mechanical trigger linkage. Just a guess. Only two pins hold the trigger linkage assembly in the lower. You don't have to take apart any further than this for a good inspection. Haenelistklasse
Thanks for the suggestions huggytree and Petro1, I will check to see if that could be the possible problem. I had no jams with the gun it ran great just a runaway every now and again.
83Baron
Had the same issue Haenel with my shooter Wilson. Sent to Bob for repair and its probably the sear. Keep him in mind if it is.
huggytree
2 pins and $120 to bergflak and the whole trigger/sear mech is replaced... might be that easy!!!
Petroleum 1
83 Baron...did Bob give you a time frame for making the repairs?? he seems to be very busy all the time.
83Baron
Hey Vinny. Yes he is but he turns stuff around within a couple months. It will prob be 2-3 months for the Wilson and a few other repairs. As has been said - hard to find his expertise elsewhere!

Garry
could be borderline weak ammo.
Petroleum 1
The op mentioned the trigger was getting "stuck" so that indicates to me its a mechanical issue??
