Zamm
Got my most excellent spring and buffer set from Dave. Took a photo of the set up in situ. Feels so GOOD! Have yet to shoot it, but I'm sure it will perform quite nicley. I do recomend this to all semi owners who are fed up with cocking thier semi's like they where crossbows! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif http://mywebpages.comcast.net/iannamico/mgbsite/Zammbuffer.jpg
LongRifle
I just shot my Thompson Semi in a Bowling Pin match today. What a pain, clearing the gun between strings. You are right, just like a crossbow. You MUST let us know how it works, and if it works well, where you got it.

Motorcar
Thanks for the great photo Zamm! Does the bolt still run far enough back in the receiver with that extra buffer in there? What is that notch cut in your bolt towards the rear? It looks sorta like a sear notch to put the safety on with the bolt closed on a F/A..? Mine doesn't have that cut on the bolt. A PK modification? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ph34r.gif
Zamm
Motorcar, Yep, the bolt still clears a complete cycle quite nicley. As for the notch in the bottom of the bolt, Being an early West Hurley model, they were using surplus M1 bolts, I know these bolts had 2 notches in them as you state. I belive there is actually 3 notches on this one now ( next time I break it down I'll look), I'm sure one or more have to do with PK's modifications. I always wondered why my brand new Westy, straight from the factory, had pitting all over the bolt until PK clued me in on the story. Lot's of Savage parts too( trigger, etc..). best, Zamm
PK.
Don’t blame me for your extra notches! Not of my doing. Zamm got it right; leftovers from the converted M1 bolt used in the early guns, Merry Christmas! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Merry Ploughboy
Not from personal experience, but if ya combine a short stroke with a rapid accuation rate and yer probably gonna hear a lot of the comment, "Gee, that was quick."
Merry Ploughboy
PhilOhio, Thanks for the advice and it's good to know I'm not the only one who doesn't take all this stuff totally seriously.
