What Year Did Govt Add Stock Screw, Washer and Nut to M1A1?

Recommended Posts

Looking for a time period of when the government began to add the reinforcing screw to the M1A1 and would a M1 Thompson be "correct" with the reinforcing screw, or would that automatically mean the M1 had been rebuilt and upgraded?
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

See attached, which I downloaded from somewhere, maybe from MGB, many years ago.

To answer the question, the reinforced stocks were introduced after the cessation of all TSMG production. If a particular gun has such a stock, it was modified or produced after the gun's original production, either as a spare part, or as part of a rebuild program.
