FYI-Bowman having a mag sale. Thompson XX mags 10/$100+ship

Recommended Posts

You watch the video that they are basically the "scratch and dent" mainly the DENT'd mags? I was all set to buy 20-30 of them then saw an example of the dents and decided I don't need them that bad.

Yeah, the "dent" in the video was close to 1/4" deep and although I am pretty experienced in removing smaller dents, this was more like a deep punch mark.

I'll pass on these.

Might get lucky as sometimes Bob posts the worst ones in the videos, but I'll leave the dice roll to someone else.

i bought a feed lip tool and was able to remove a couple dents in an old mag i had laying around using it as a backup. im wondering if using a bit of heat would work on the dents .. i have a selection of body hammers and used a flat faced one and lightly tapped until most of the dent was removed. you have to be careful . btw ive done about 40 mags so far on fixing the feed lips some times when i find the mags that have the elongated hole and are cheap enough ill buy them. reweld the hole and fix them up to work in my gun. mines a 27 with the modified mag catch so i can use original mags. i had bought some of those scratch and dent mags from what a country and with a bit of time i was able to get them all working and looking good. theres still quite a few original mags in really nice condition for sale but your gonna pay for them.

I've had good results removing dents and rust from bargain bin mags. I use evaporust for rust and a bucking bar for dents. Still there is a risk that some mags may be beyond repair.

I received my "Grade 2" mags today and I am not sure if Bowman got these mags confused with the other excellent condition mags that I bought from him for $20 each...

I'll try to post a few pics later, but I think at *worst* there was some finish flaking on one or two mags and then one spot of some old pitting. Not a single mag has any dents or dings. All the feed lips look good.

Another mix of mostly Auto Ordnance, one Seymour, and one unmarked mag.

Honestly, I'm a little disappointed I didn't have to use my feed lip tool at least once.... Haha!

Overall great deal on some excellent 20 round mags!

Anyone gets a mag or 2 that has those old 1920 etc. dates on them, I will give you what paid for them, and pay the freight! Oh wait, that opens the gate to get charged $150 in shipping, each. A little humor there; some would say very little.

Go shooting tomorrow.

Is Bowman using ups to ship mags? figure anybody now will not use them to ship a 10g c drum..and with FED ex rate increase that might be all thats left for the future. or get ready for long drives to pick stuff up. oh yeah its getting easier everyday now.

the post office is the next visit from congress and those senators watch. its in the wings already.

get ready for mag and parts shipping $100 bucks.RON K.

Mine were shipped UPS. Bowman, or whoever his shipper is, even wrote in plain view on the shipping label:

"20 ROUND THOMPSON MAGAZINES GRADE 2"

Definitely wasn't any question as to what was in the package...
