Gents, Did the US military produce a parts layout mat (dont know the official term) for The M2 Carbine, along the lines of / similar to what is used for the M16 series of weapons? If by change anyone has one can you post a pic? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, JB

Yes, there was a mat for the M2 carbine, had a chance to buy one but I let it slip by. I don't think they had one for the M1 carbine.

I bought my non USGI M1 Carbine bench top exploded parts mat at one of the big internet retailers. Forgot which one. About 15-20 bucks if memory serves.

Sent Dalbert an image via email of the mat I have, for some reason couldn't post here. I'm sure he'll post that image here soon. Thank you for your input, and invite more after the image is posted.

Thanks for posting the pic. I'm thinking if genuine, probably USMC. However unsure at the moment unless I can reference it.

I believe this may be an otherwise undocumented version. I'm going to cross-post this in another forum, and see if maybe it appeared in the Carbine Club Newsletter at some point.
There were M1 Carbine, and M2 Carbine disassembly mats. Larry Ruth has a cotton M1 Carbine disassembly mat shown on page 1381 of "War Baby III." Ruth documents 7 different M1/M2 disassembly mat versions.

Awesome info, Thank You Again. I got this one framed in oak and covered with glass. You can clearly see its of a cotton duck textured type fabric. Ink is black on the cotton duck fabric. I'm assuming the oak frame was custom made, just considering the possibility would be narrow the frame would fit the outer line as perfect as it does.
Measurement was taken of the black perimeter line just inside the oak frame are: 26" High X 31 1/4 Long. I really don't know at this time how far the material measures beyond that line (which is under the frame) but wanted to provide it for future reference.
Again all, again Thanks for the input, JB
