Spare Parts For Semi

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what parts off a full-auto will work on semi-autos. I am not referring to full auto parts, but parts like ejectors and extractors and such. I want to get some spare parts, but I want to make sure they will work before I spend my money. Also, is there a good source for parts that are affordable. I see some prices on ebay and Numrich, but I am not sure I will be paying too much for the parts. What are good prices? Thanks.

We've been over this several times on the boards before (check the FAQ, if it's not up there, it needs to be.)

Ejectors, extractors, wood (horizontal forearm needs to be hogged out to fit the contour of the 16" bbl), sights, grip mounts, barrels (NFA rules apply), sling swivels and screws, magazine catch, safety (IIRC)... not sure about the other internals since I don't own a semi and haven't had one in my hands and apart for some time now, lower frames (IIRC, but with modifications.) Not sure there'd be much else you could use. If I was you, about teh only parts I'd really be concerned about having would be an extractor (or two), an ejector , and maybe a magazine catch (to replace the cheap one used by Kahr and WH.)

For spares, try Kahr (I know for a fact that they do have GI extractors), Sarco, IMA, Gun Parts, Corp., Doug Richardson and Phil Askew (here on the boards. I'm sure there plenty of others, but those are the ones that spring to mind right now.

Thanks fellas. I was going to do a search to find this info out, but my computer at home decided to take an unannounced vacation. Hopefully, I will have it fixed by Monday. I only get about 30 min at work to surf the web. My Thompson is at the local smith getting the SBR works done to it (legaly), and I wanted to get some spare parts for it while it was there. Please forgive me for asking the above question, probably for the nth time. Thanks for this great site.

M1tommygunner,

I hope you didn't think I was directing my "we've been through this before, check the FAQ" statement at you as a flame or rant. I was more or less musing that the information should be up there since the topic has come up a number of times, both here and on the old board.

Anyways, you ought to be able to get away with a spare extractor and ejector for under $40 for the pair (at least based on the prices I paid for those same parts.) It's been a while since I bought either parts...all total, I've bought two extractors and one ejector, and never had to use any of them. (My orignal spare went to a friend whose Kahr ate his extractor.) So far, knock on wood, I haven't had to use any of the spares I've bought. (But that won't keep me from continuing to get spare parts.)

Be sure to show us some pics when your SBR gets home.

Alas, it isn't in the FAQ. I'll work on this, if I can get a definitive listing. Now, using a GI mag catch means you have to use GI sticks, right?

So, internals:

extractors

ejectors

magazine catches

?

Of course, you will still have to modify your GI Mag catch, if you wanted to use the Gi Mags.

Again, thanks for the info. I did not get to look at this site all weekend, and I do believe I was going through some withdrawls. I will have to wait on my computer a little longer. I hope to get my Thompson back in a couple of weeks to know how much I will have left to spend on spare parts. I want to get some spare parts and some GI wood to replace the Kahr wood. I cannot wait.

Bill in VA, I did not get offended by your comment. I could see where you were directing it, and it was not at me. It takes a whole lot to get me teed off, unless you happen to be a lousy low-life stinking neocommie democrap who thinks they are the savior of the universe with their socialist anti gun-gummit programs, or my wife http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif. I will try to post some pics, after I can figure out how to do it without a digital camera and a scanner.
