1921A
Seller has 1928 display receiver listed for sale. Check out the pictures. Amazing what turns up on eBay. Not sure if the link below will work. If not, search Thompson 1928A1. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F233245791270

Broadarrowmaint
That looks like a fully machined reciever. Am I wrong?
1952HRA
I don't even know what to say about that, either the seller is really dumb or just doesn't care if they go to prison, and from California!
1921A
Two more interesting eBay finds. Wonder how long these will last! Looks like the eBay Police found both drum auctions! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F123790274867 https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F123790264502 Edited June 7, 2019 by 1921A

Motorcar
Anyone else think that "original WW2 drum" might be a fake? The "U" seems stamped into the finish, not stamped then finished. As for the receiver....yikes.
shadycon
As far as the drum and pouch goes, if interested get the guys phone number before it is removed.
TSMG28
Motorcar, The L-drum looks original to me. The U stamps are highlighted, which makes them look different. The C-drum is an early West Hurley, so assume it will not work. The packaging is a nice feature of this auction. Agree about the receiver! Seller needs to sell these on a compatible platform, like Gunbroker. Don't expect them to last to completion almost six days away.

I agree, got out Tracie's book to compare font, and front/backplate instructions. When I first looked at the one picture zoomed in, the "U" appeared stamped over the finish. My mistake, looks to be fourth generation United Specialties drum. The fifth gen winding instructions seem bolder than the one pictured in the ad. LSU Tiger
That looks like a fully machined reciever. Am I wrong? It does to me too.
Ron Mills
Holy Cellblock, Batman! Sure looks ready to go to me (the "replica" receiver). Well golly, maybe he just forgot that he had finished it before it was "sitting stored". Makes for interesting reading...
reconbob
Yes, it sure does look like a 100% receiver or so close that itdoesn't matter. I wish it didn't have Philly O engraved on it. Bob
john
And it's in Kalifornia too.....would probably get the death penalty there!!
2ndArmored
Despite Californians voting to both retain AND streamline the death penalty, Governor/Emperor Newsom has decreed that the death penalty will not exist in his State during his reign.https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/3/13/18263810/california-abolish-death-penalty-gavin-newsom-executions However this milling machine merchant of death will undoubtedly be charged with a hate crime for bringing a gun into the world. ppgcowboy
In the first sentence, it declares California to be America's largest state. In the America I live in, that would be Alaska is the largest followed by Texas then California. Alaskans even joke that they should divide themselves in half and make Texas the third largest state. reconbob
I was catching up on phone messages and I think the guy selling this receivercalled and left a message. He said he was given the receivers and doesn't know anythingabout anything. I guess he called because the receiver says Phila Ord. Anyway, I lefthim a message, don't know if he will call back or not.... Bob
reconbob
OK - talked to the guy. A while back he was clearing out a hanger for a guy that restoredold WW2 airplanes and these were part of the clean out. He did some of his own researchand figured they were pars that could be sold and put them up on Ebay. Then he found outthat they were not OK under Ebay's term of service - not realizing that they were finishedreceivers but just gun parts - and pulled the auction himself. I filled him in on the whole thing and the receivers will be destroyed as soon as possible. Bob

67ray
Why not just give them to an SOT/02 for post sample manufacture? Isn't that legal.
