Bolt Face Flat or Bent - UPDATE from Kahr

Recommended Posts

While servicing my TM1, looking for possible reasons for all the misfeeds yesterday, I saw a flat or bent area of the bolt face at about the 7 o'clock position. I've attached a photo to show what I'm speaking of.

Is this a defect from the factory or is this the normal configuration of the bolt face?

No, I didn't drop the bolt - LOL.

Here's a better photo:

If the bolt was properly hardened it could withstand a butt load more misfeeds than basically 1 box of ammo

Send it back to kahr

They'll send you a new one

Tell you also want a free mag or two for your trouble

i turned down a piece of round stock about .075 under the ID of the bolt face, then clamped it down horizontally in the vice with about an inch sticking out for rigidity, seated the bolt face over the mandrel, and leaned into it to hold it in place, and slowly beat out the flat spots and re-rounded it with a small peening hammer.
