Thinking About Buying A M6

Recommended Posts

Hello, I've come across a M6 and I'm having thoughts of buying it.

How do the M6's compare in quality to the other tube guns, as in Sten's, Reising's

and M3's etc.

It seems I have an affinity for finned barreled MG's.

Thanks for the input.

darrylta,

There was a really good deal on an M6 on Sturm recently. I think it was $4K, which is the lowest I've seen in many years.

There's not an issue with quality. The tube is probably a bit thinner than a Reising, and maybe about the same as a Sten. I really like the semi to full auto trigger pull feature. It's also C&R.

Go for it!

David,

The one I found asking price is more than that but, also includes a Fed. Labs case and (2) mags.

Do you have a ballpark figure on value of the case, I've seen that original mags go for around $225 per.

I've contacted the seller for more detailed photos.

I'll post with info if I buy it.

Thanks,

Darryl

What is the availability of spare parts for the Police M6? I don't remember seeing much if any.

I'm getting closer to making the purchase, I'll post the seller's photos to get a some opinions.

He did say that he had never dismantled the gun when I asked about the internals condition.

Thanks,

Darryl

I received some photos of the Fed Labs case from the seller. It appears to be original, but the gun layout is

backwards and it has an added 3rd mag or ammo box compartment.

Has any one seen this before? Could it have been an option on the case?

Thanks,

Darryl

Darryl,

I have never seen a Model 6 hardcase available for sale separately. If one were available in very good condition, I would probably be a candidate to pay up to $1K for it. Very few hardcases were made, and I believe they were alll the same. That does not mean that someone might have added a magazine compartment, but I do know that the original manufacturer would not have been involved in any modification to the cases.

One supplier has Model 6 mags for $175 each.

I do not know of a supply of spare parts.

It's a good gun, and getting one with a hardcase is a plus.

David,

After seeing that the case had been modified and relined, I offered the seller $400 less than his asking price.

The case and gun were advertised to both be in excellent condition.

He balked at my offer, so it looks the buy is aborted.

There's always more fish in the sea.

Thanks for the input,

Darryl
