Forearm Screw

Recommended Posts

Got mine from Gunparts the other day in 2 days. Pretty good service I think!

Anyway when I removed my pistol grip to install my newly made forearm from Deerslayer. I noticed the screw hole had been buggered some. Is it possible to buy a tap with the proper number of threads so I can clean this one up?

IMPORTANT the thread is 14 - 24 NOT 1/4" - 24.

Mr Doug Richardson comes to mind, but if you have machine tool supliers in your area they might be able to hook you up with one. Size 14 - 24 is a dinasour, it hasn't been in standard use for a while. 1/4" - 24 is .0080" LARGER than 14 - 24. this size diffeerance may seem small but when it comes to threads it's the differance between it holding and suddenly dropping out onto the floor.

I got my 14-24 tap from PK,it worked great, I needed to clean up

the threads on my WH 28 grip mt.,the bolt diden't screw in all the

way and messed up the threads a little bit.I reamed out the grip

just enough so the bolt went all the way thrue.

I did have to grind the tap down to make it a bottom tap, so the main

threads on the tap would go thrue the grip mt,with out hitting the barrel

See Ya
