Czech Vickers lock restoration

Recommended Posts

Thought some of you may appreciate this. I purchased a Czech Vickers lock body last year and after some serious study and drawings decide to restore it as best I could. There is a photo of one in Dolfs book "The Grand Old Lady of No Mans Land" so I had a rough idea of what to do. The thing that sets the Czech lock apart from all others is that it uses 2 coil springs instead of the single leaf type spring. From what I can find they're pretty rare. I currently have a standard British extractor and trigger on it.

Kudos to you!! I have tried to find one of those for many years, mostly just to have one.

I used to make copies of the standard Vickers lock spring but using springwire which made "new" springs available before the various caches of springs located overseas started showing up here for sale. Dolf sold some of them for me along the way and used a couple in his guns.

You probably remember the guy in AZ who was converting standard Vickers locks to the Czech pattern. I met him at the first or second SAR show in Phoenix. There was a labor of love!!
