Identifying 30 Round Mags

Recommended Posts

Can any of you M2 owners tell me how to identify 30 round M1/M2 Carbine magazines? I bought a few recently. One is marked Sey. The others are only marked Made In USA. Any help would be appreciated. I just sent off money for an M2 so while I'm waiting I'd like to stock up on magazines. I have plenty of good 15 round ones.

Thanks

MLV

You ought to get the book: U.S. M1 Carbines, Wartime Production by Craig Riesch.

Any unmark magazines, made in U.S.A., or marked M2 I think are after market ones. Any mag. marked KI, AI, IA, Sey are definitely G.I. There is also a early version that is called a "seamless or hardback" magazine as well. There is one marked J that I think is late production G.I.

My M2 is fun to shoot but I like my Thompson better.

My 2 cents.

Thanks Must; Your response jogged my memory that I had indeed bought that "Wartime Production" book last winter at a gun show, and then stored it in the bookcase without reading it. I've now dug it out.

And Jim c 351: Thanks for the website. I'll check it out today.
