Do you think this Type 14 is refinished?

Recommended Posts

Hard to tell without a personal inspection, but possibly refinished. Originally, the triggers and safety levers on these guns were strawed, where here they appear blued. The bolt and firing pin should be bright. Also, there appears to be some wear to the knurling on the cocking knob. A worn knob should appear bright. Later guns (which this is) had two mags with blued bodies, serial number matched to the gun. The mag follower should be bright.

I would say messed with the gun makers art. Late war 44 45 had some of the rough marking {and get rid of that white china marker crap} and not so great finish. pick up a P-38 AC-40 and a Z block Spreewerk CYQ P-38, And compare the two. If it is priced right and you need it sure. back strap and cock knob.{Did that sound right?}

look really nice and blue. people can make things even 20 years ago look just right.it is you're buck spend wisely.

I thought only the earlier guns had straw triggers and safeties?
