Mario Scarpino
Just wanted all to know that I recently had P.K. turn down an "ULGY" Kahr 27A1 cocking knob into something that resembles a 1921A. I had him put the checkering on the ball, as I wanted it to look like the real deal. It is beautiful! I also had him put checkering on the edge of a smooth 1928A1 selector switch as well. It looks great! I got my parts back in time for Santa to bring them to me (I didn't send them to P.K. all that long ago). The price was more than reasonable, the quality was excellent. I am very pleased! Mario Scarpino

Walter63a
Ron, yes, PK does custom work on Thompsons. I believe he is a Class II living in Colorado. You can contact him through this board, by clicking on his handle (this will give you a tab to email him). I have never had work done by PK, but from what I have learned on this board, he has been in the business for decades and is very good with any work on full-auto or semi-auto Thompsons. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif Regards, Walter
full auto 45
I have seen some work that PK has done. First class all the way. A friend had it done and his gun, a 1928 Savage gun, looks great. Runs like a scalded dog.
The1930sRust
There are many, many gunsmiths available to do work on a variety of weapons. Paul (PK) is certainly one of them. Where Paul, I think, diverts from the rest of the pack is his familiarity with working on Thompsons. Inarguably, none of us would want work done to such a special firearm by anyone not completely fluent in them. Fortunately for us all here, Paul is. Here are a few images of work he did on my West Hurly last year. Paul is most adept at tweaking these... Checkering of the fire control levers... http://www.darklightimagery.net/thompson/checkering.jpg Pinning of the compensator... http://www.darklightimagery.net/thompson/cutts.jpg Cutting of drum slots in the receiver... http://www.darklightimagery.net/thompson/drumslots.jpg Installing an original Lyman sight... http://www.darklightimagery.net/thompson/lymanscrews.jpg Paul's attention to detail is unparalleled. Even seemingly innocuos tasks like changing a grip mount can be a problem on some receivers; Paul can do it. And, his modified 1928 actuators (that operate like the 1921 model) can add fun to a gun, too! http://www.darklightimagery.net/thompson/diamondk/21%20kit.JPG The results of a total makeover by PK will leave you very warm inside... http://www.darklightimagery.net/thompson/violincaseweb.jpg And the receiving end in shreds! http://www.darklightimagery.net/thompson/thompson02.jpg Would you expect any less from someone who even looks the part? http://www.darklightimagery.net/thompson/diamondk/MVC-009S.JPG [HIDE~PK]PAUL: Nick assures me that only you can view this sentence. 21 smoker
Nice post, great pics... I just recieved PK`s 21 actuator, recoil, etc. and the quality is top knotch! My 21ac never ran so good...very consistant...FAST!!! Iwas so pleased that I sent him my WH28 to completely rework that POS. I was reluctant at first to send PK a FA, but after talking to him and following his packing instructions off it went.I was afraid to ship FA , but PK was right...it was simple...easier than a pistol.I`m really looking forward to finally being able to shoot that WH28 with confidence instead of excuses Keep up the good work PK... and KEEPEM`SMOKIN` out. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

PK.
You know, if I had a million dollars I couldn’t have bought a better spread than that! I have always believed that the true reward for your efforts is a satisfied customer, and I guess I have managed a few of those. My thanks for all the effort that went into that post Chris, and for the kind words of all. A couple of comments regarding the work on Chris’ gun: The contouring on the drum slots is one of two varieties I offer. That shown is concave and is very effective in practical use. The other is convex and matches the Colt, Savage and early A/O receivers. The decision to attach the Lyman sight from the inside of the receiver was in order to preserve the sight to the maximum degree (it could still be riveted with standard rivets on another gun) while taking into account that the receiver was of the late variety having M4 threads. This also allowed the possibility of attaching an alternate sight rail in place of the Lyman. The Thompson has always been of special interest to me and I feel very much at home here with my friends. It is privilege and honor to be member of this board and I hope I can be of some small service in the coming years. A Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year to you all.
