Was This A Good Buy?

Recommended Posts

I think the person who purchases the drum is the one to decide if its worth what he paid.

If Kahr comes out with a C drum and "if" it works then the AO C drum could have less value that what the drum sold for - remember Merle will need to make it work and a person could have $1,400 into this drum and still only have a copy C drum.

I had the same issue, I purchased a AO C drum and then sent to Merle to get the drum to work - I have $1,200 into a AO C drum and think I may have spent more that it was worth. Right after this I purchased a Colt C drum for $2,000. The Colt has value - the AO C drum may go down in value.

It depends on how bad you want the drum...

If you get one thats new, just out of the box and it works - it will be a first,

I don't know of anyone who ever had that happen.

In the first place, the springs will not push 100 rds out without winding again, even if you get one that feeds, if you can even get it in a gun.

When the first drums were sent back for repair or replacement the problem didn't get fixed. Read the several articles by Gordon Herigstad which appeared in the Thompson Collectors News. I experenced the same thing as Gordon with the AO C drum, and it never got better. It was only after Merle appeared on the scene that there was a fix for these drums.

Did the seller guarantee the drum would work? Will he take it back if it doesn't work?

One could only expect that the seller of a AO C drum, knowing the history of the C drums would point out his drum does work.

Its a real leap of faith that the drum works, feeding all 100 rds without rewinding several times.

NO good deal there, considering it would cost $300.00+ to make run right. Everyone should realize NO WH "C" Drums have been known to function properly out of the Box without requiring a good amount of effort to perform as intended..Let's all see how the Kahr "C" Drums will be. Couldn't be any worse than a WH "C"...Or could they be?! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/huh.gif

Let's all hope that ,Kahr takes this project as a serious one, and uses Tracie's information.

The mounting rails will definitely need to be beefed a bit.

I just hope it can be pulled off before any changes in the laws occur, or that Kahr feels its too costly and cans the project.

Lionhart asked if they will take it back....

This item was relisted (unless the same seller has more than 1!). If I remember right it "sold" for $1225 about a month ago. Anyone else remember? Why didn't that buyer claim it?

Yes I did "snag" Norm's tweaked "C" drum. I didn't buy this one. I just wanted to know what the members thought of the price.

I assume you paid more for Norm's drum....

OK, ok I admit it, it was me that bought that drum. I was trying to get it for under 1000.00 and then have Merel work on it. I tend to get a little bid happy. I figure whats another $140.00 http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif when we are paying thousands for the guns http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif .

Don't listen to these guys.... If you say you paid 800 bucks for a Bridgeport then all you hear about are the ones available for 5 to 6 bills... Still haven't found them yet.... Heck for that kinda money, it's nice just for the cool factor when it is sitting on your gun..... As for HJ, I know what he paid for his C drum cuZ I was second in line... unless Norm sold it for less than what I offered.... he might have cut him a first in line good guy deal...... btaim "I" think you did OK........

I don't know if he did or not but I didn't pay $1125.00 for it.
