Mounds Of Dirt?...Grass Moving...?

Recommended Posts

Ooooohhh-RAH! Just whacked a mole with 30 rounds from the Tommy! Oh, that felt GOOD! Generally I use a shotgun, but this little bastard deserved much, much more. Wrecked a large chunk of my lawn today. I only had to wait for about two minutes. Then, did the earth move under my feet? Yup! My heart rate increased. On with the safety glasses. I e-a-s-e-d the actuator back, leaned into it. Aim. Squeezed the trigger and just walked that stream of lead in a nice little spiral. Got blood on my probe stick. Hehehe....

Sorry to be so happy at this death, but I really do hate these little terrorists.

Rant off.........

Oh Mr. A -

Fond memories of the stink and goo that arrived in the mail not so long ago. I too hate the little bastards. I don't know what's happened this year but they are EVERYWHERE !!! Please carry on the fight. You take care of them and I and Mike will be looking soon at more pumpkins.

Walter, the goo thing is an inside joke. If you think CA is sick .... well perhaps for another day.

Ah...CJ, fond memmories. I was going to add, before you brought it up, that this sort of behavior is not without precedent. Rare, yes, difficult, even more so, perhaps even grotesque. But oh....

Is that mole pelt still around;-)

Once again, I apologize for the knees.......

No Chris, all things eventually rot ... as did the little pelt. I do have pics of it next to the yodie tail that I'll have to dig up and post if I can do it before this one scrolls off the bottom.

Good shoot'in !!!

I've got to get down your way sometime very soon. I'll check in and see what your schedule is like.

Hate to rain on your parade, but being a former wildlife biologist, that is the rare pink-footed mole. It is on the endangered species list. You might want to re-think your conquest.

Gotcha.

Wow, I never suspected a Tommygun could be such a useful lawn maintenance implement.

"Honey, I'm going out to do some lawn work. Let's see, rake, shovel, lawn mower, Tommygun; yep, I've got everything I need sweetie."

MMMM!! It looks like you have a nice side dish for supper tonight http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif . That is if there is anything left of it. After dining on you recent game takedown, you could take the fur and dry it out. If you get enough of them little rascals you could make a new fashion statement with a mole fur coat this winter. Although wearing it my cause a desire to start to dig tunnels and eat worms. That should make all the little PITA heads down right mad at you http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/mad.gif . Moles have rights too!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif You could come over to my yard and collect a few. Those varmits have wreaked havoc to my yard. Nice shooting, and by the looks of it, without a stock. I wonder what a 100 round drum would do to one of those buggers? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif

Chris, do you think that you might just have been a tad bit overgunned when out mole-mashing? I've found that head shots with my suppressed bolt action .22, using 60 gr. subsonic ammo leaves enough meat for the barbeque. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

Oh lord, don't let this thread fall into the hands of the Brady bunch, or their ilk. They'll think we're ... well, you know!

Pop:

Now, who has more fun: you with your .22 or me with the Tommy? Hehe...

Actually, I've never tried a .22. I've been afraid I'd miss, as my experience with moles is that where the earth moves isn't necessarily where they lay. Heck, I've even missed with 00 buckshot (though not lately as I have a certain Zen when it comes to mole whacking). I can only imagine what passersby on the highway (I was at the edge of the road) thought. Surprised a cop didn't pull up...hey wait a minute....

There must be a lot of mole killing going on with firearms. The other day, while on patrol, I passed a guy sitting in front of his house, in a chair, with a 3030 rifle, scope and all, trained on the ground. Splat!
