Found in Australia anybody drop these in the lake

Recommended Posts

bit of BS as usual

1st off full autos were under special permit but that was somewhat ignored

there were plenty of MGs turned out in garage shops, after all that's where the Owen has it's roots

not sure when they yanked the licences, number of years ago though

Aussies used to blaze away with Vickers guns on certain holidays

Canucks and Kiwis too

There were some Thompsons down under prior to WWII as well

to be sure, not a great many but they were most certainly in Australia

Handled a very weathered up 21' there 30 some years ago

family story was Grandad bought it in the mid 20s in the States while on some business trip and returned home with it

used it to hunt Crocks and bush people, family also had a sweet 1911 Colt he came home with

another point ignored are the Remittance Men

Okay

Let's say you are of noble birth in England but you seriously shit the family bed

maybe you beat and rape some very young girl

so what happened ?

The victim was well paid off for silence and that nasty son was sent to the Colonies to hide out until everything blew over and was mostly forgotten

Some went to Canada, others to South Africa, India or Australia

they of course received an allowance, the Remittance

that stipend was often crazy generous and as nobles they pretty much could own whatever they wanted

and yeah' some of those wayward sons bought TSMgs and BARs

not a great deal of that went down but go down it indeed did

this was still active up until WWII

It's why you still find so many double rifles in Canada for example

anyways as usual for the Oz press the article is bullshit

Those probably are post war imports, maybe stolen and forgotten about

So the aristocrats bundled their sociopathic offspring off to live amongst - and prey upon - the descendants of people whom they had branded as criminals mostly for the unforgivable sin of being poor?

No wonder we kicked their asses out in 1776.
