michaelkih
What is the going rate for a pre sample MP40 if you don't care about matching or its finish? I'm in the market and looking for one that I can own and treasure, but also enjoy without being too worried. Thanks!
Haenelistklasse
Ok, since no one else is answering I guess I will take a stab at it. I usually only watch the transferable ones but I have seen one listed on gunbroker for a while for 10K and it is still sitting so my guess is that is too high. I would say a good guess would be between 8-10k with 10K being your high end and how bad you want one I suppose. I would try to stay in the 8K range and go up a bit if you see one you really like or maybe offer the guy that is asking 10K 9K and see what he says. Just a thought. johnsonlmg41
Rule of thumb for pre-samples is about 50% of transferable prices. It has been that way on just about every gun, other than a few rare ones that pop up from time to time. That's what I've seen over nearly 20 years.
fifthmdec
Recently purchased a documented Form 6 bringback, early MP40. Reactivated , all matching except the barrel... Replaced... Not all barrels can be salvaged. The provenance is what sold me, besides the search... $17,000 8k for the one on Gun Broker...
fifthmdec
As for the general rule of 50% of Transferable value ratio. Not anymore... Unless you have a desirable as in a Pre May Thompson, AK 47, M16, HK or maybe a MG 42... If priced to sell, you are far from 50% Recently sold a Pre May M1A1 9500. MG 34 8k, NESA BAR 1918A2 9k, M2 Carbine $4,750, GL M3A1 with Ciener suppressor 8.5k. Some guys try and hold out for the dopamine infused buyer, like the enthusiastic new SOT... Not as easy to sell Pre May MGs and expect to make reasonable profit. Unless you purchased them 20 years or more ago... This has been my experience as of recently... michaelkih
Thanks guys. Wish I saw your GL M3 when it was for sale! Dang it! Maybe the guy who bought it would want to make some money?
DZelenka
Michael, I should be getting 2 more pre may MP40s in the near future. I'll keep you apprised. I already have one pre-may and two transferables so these will probably hit the market. Dan
