NORIDE
I would appreciate any help in determining the year of manufacture for a 1928A1 Thompson that I am interested in buying. Marked Auto Ordnance Corp. Bridgeport, Conn USA Serial # AO23750 Lyman Rear Sight, Finned BBL, Vertical Foregrip. No more info avail. at this time. By the way I have ordered Franks book over a week ago but mail to Alaska is real slow , still waiting to have this info in hand but appreciate help on this one till book arrives. First Sergeant
In checking Frank's book, the last production date of Auto-Ordnance, Bridgeport 1928A1's was October 15, 1942. Based on your serial number and description it's an Early Production version so it was much earlier than that. Maybe others can narrow it down for you more. If I were you, I'd jump at the chance to buy it. Good Luck Chuck
Lancer
Full production of the 1928A1 began at the Bridgeport facility in Aug. 1941 and ended, as First Sergeant points out, on October 15, 1942. My guess would be that this gun was made Oct. of 41, however there are no definitive production dates in Franks book and could be a month earlier or later.
