Disassembly headaches

I'm having a devil of a time getting the recoil spring assembly out of my semi. It keeps hanging up on the pilot when I try to pull it up and out of the reciver. I have a set of Ez-pulls and a buffer that sits between the rear of the springs and the square base of the recoil guide. I don't want to force it and risk bending the guides. The buffer is bit thicker than the ones that are on my other two guns, so think this may be the culprit. Ideas and/or suggestions appreciated. Edited January 31, 2016 by anticus

can you get the pilot pin ,spring and spacer out , should be able to lift the bolt a bit more

Will give that a try, but gingerly. The pilot is tight in the recoil guide groove when i try to lift it. Maybe pressing down on the pilot while lifting the guide will work. Will advise. God, I hate the system on these guns.

If a thicker buffer is preventing removal and all attempts fail , I'd suggest a sharp Xacto knife to cut out the thicker buffer. Once apart, replace the buffer with one with the correct thickness.

That, or mount it behind the recoil shield. It won't go anywhere when installed and will be a LOT easier to remove ( I think).

On my Thompson semi builds I have always put the buffer behind the plate that holds the spring guides. Never had a problem in assembly or disassembly.

Thanks, this has to work better than what I have. I've seen some builds that use a hammer fired system, similar to an AR15.
