Colt SAA question

Recommended Posts

I'll start of by saying that I know this probably isn't the best forum for this question but sense I haven't gotten around to becoming a member of any other ones yet I figured I'd ask the question hear to see if anyone has any answers, I've recently been looking at Colt SAA revolves ( I'm looking at them just for fun, I eventually will get one it's just getting handguns is a bit of a process where I live and I have to many other things I want first) and I found one that says it is made in 1881 but it has the cross bar cylinder take down not the set screw cylinder take down, I know in 1896 the standard takedown was switched from the set screw to the cross bar, my question is does anyone know how early if at all they offered the cross bar as an option on the Colt SAA before 1896? I read somewhere they offered them from 1891 on but 1881 is a lot earlier than 1891 so I'm confused, thanks for the help

Gorgeous SAA Colt! Keep in mind that it " is not " original and will not commend an original price tag. It doesn't have the original barrel nor cylinder. It has been nickle plated and engraved and fired. It's a beautiful shooter and unless you love the engraving I would say it's over priced. JMO
