He's in Belize now I think, and has been lately. His 310 area code phone works down there I'm pretty sure.

"Frontpage" in this case does not mean the front page of his web site. Frontpage was a Microsoft website admin tool. MS in its desperate need on more millions to go with the billions that it has already accrued has stopped supporting it and forced its users to buy MS Expression Web as a replacement. Websites that were constructed using it will eventually run afoul of other software and crash. Welcome to the wonderful world of planned obsolescence.

Why is it down? Was it because the host took it down because the hosting period needs to be renewed, or the domain expired.
Who are the hosts?
Actual domain name, www.thompsonsmg.com correct?
I am told that the files can still be used and can still be on the web, but frontpage is just not supported itself. So I am thinking it can be reworked to a supported program or whatever is needed to keep them updated.
So has the domain or host fees been overlooked somehow. Or am I just internet ignorant?

Here is my question. Has anyone tried to call Doug???
Here is his number,---310-457-6400.
If Doug is still alive, I'm sure he can answer all of these questions. If he is not alive then all of these questions are irrelevant.

Jim C nailed it. Doug really enjoys talking to folks about the Thompson. Knowing he is talking with a young person with the Thompson passion would make him very happy. I have called and chatted several times, then I had an opportunity to visit him in CA once to pick up parts etc. The visit and chats are priceless. Do as Jim says, remember he is in Pacific time zone, and ring him up!

Jim, you beat me to it. I was just about to post that number. Just call him. Reminds me of a sign I saw in a drinking/eating establishment: "No internet here. Have a drink and talk to each other".
Off topic I know, but...
