TD.
Police hardcases are definitely not my specialty. That said, this case looks too tall to be original - at least compared to the original Police hardcases I am familiar with.
colt21a
LOOKS LIKE WELL DONE REPO. check the locks and also inside spare parts holders and snaps and cleaning rod vinyl or leather?holders. and of course carry handle. Most originals now look like a worn banana.remember there had been cases built as late as the 1950's for some p.d.s. and private parties. They could write a book on only cases today. Had Swetnam, Chicago case.and a fed ord. and of course probably al the repos.Terry Williams Rogers full auto. And a few others from black, blue, purple, red, green and grey interior. along with a few Chitown cases Originals. Even talked with the grandson of the original Chicago luggage case guy.Well over 30 years ago now. I do like the look of the case you have so be happy. Most owners still don't have one of anything.it is another Thompson item some pass over. They want the C drum and the Mills pouch and shot mags and the complete Spare parts kit. Funny thing i sold 2 to 2 good guy Thompson collectors Decades ago.Good posts bring back good memories to me. Too much to remember now and much has faded. Like some old pages in a worn out 1921 hand book. ha ha RON K.

Arthur Fliegenheimer
The original cases that have popped up for sale over the decades have securing hardware that are not the drawbolt type latches even though they were available in the 20's & 30's. gijive
It appears to have a plastic carrying handle. 1930s originals had leather wrapped handles. I believe it is an older reproduction.

gregg877
Does it shut with the 30 rounders in it? That would be a dead giveaway for a repro, as 30 rounders came out much later than the originals were made (if Im not mistaken)
colt21a
With the r.p.g. hole thru it by all means move it out for any price. too many decades of being spoiled with new mint stuff. to look twice. but of course for cheap somebody will step up. I think the guy that has my old Chicago police case pictured in Rogers book. wants now $5,000.00 which is a steal. As they never sold or released any of them. will see how many appear in a week at SAR show....good luck on the sale.g.b. always finds a player.RON K.
