m1a1bert
Hello, I have had this drum key for +25 years can anyone tell me if this is a military or older colt key? Thanks for your help, M1A1Bert.
gijive
In my opinion, the majority of WWII keys are identical to the Colt era keys. I don't believe there is any specific way to tell the difference. One WWII manufacturer used slight smaller rivets, but I don't recall which one. Board member TSMG28 would know, he is the drum guru. TSMG28
The First batch of Crosby drums that were painted black (for the Brits) had the rivets reversed in the key so that the smaller part was on top. Seymour drums and keys were not grit blasted, so the are blued smooth. The difference between a Bridgeport key and a pre-war Worcester key is very subtle and difficult to identify in most situations unless side by side.
