What Do Thompson Collector's Have In Common?

The day that full-autos are relegated to a small percentage of the posts here would be the time for a new TSMG board to flourish again on a parellel board.

I disagree.

That kind of thinking is elitist and isolationist; you know, the America was thinking before December 7, 1941.

We all like full-auto Thompsons, but we all can not have one.

The semi's are here to stay!

Suggestion:

Have 3 boards, one "General Thompson" (i.e. the one we're all on now), one "Full-Auto Only" (technical/value questions pertaining only to full-autos), and one "Semiauto Only" (as previous, but for semiautos).

And it would appear that I'm something of an anomaly here by the profile, but I'm glad to be part of the group... even though all I can do is drool for several more years until I finish college...

Norm, that is why every red-blooded, patriotic, gun-loving American needs to ride (write, call, email, etc) their politicians (from the President on down to any locally elected law enforcement officials) like the oversized, ego-bloated warf rats they (well most of them anyway) are!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif [Can't you all just envision yourselves riding on the backs of a troika or six-in-hand of huge ugly rats, whip at the ready! Leashed in like hounds, bend them to your will!!] http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif They are public servants, not dictators. We need to remind many of them of that fact. And when they become 'deaf to the will of the people', we need vote them a permanent vacation! Perhaps then, someday, we may yet restore our Second Amendment rights, from their present mangled state!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif Best Regards, Walter

P.S. To answer the original question, I would say that most of us are, in a word, highly eccentric! We wouldn't have it any other way. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif

Very interesting thread...well done Phil...your powers of observation have served you well,no doubt refined during all those years of S.Dept service...I can identify myself woven throughout your post....

Never felt eccentric,Walter...just a little different...more single minded...focussed...

nedry ,..you are not an anomaly...just young, still learning...all in good time..

hell,.. I bet a lot of us here started out with semi thompsons..I did...that`s what I could afford at the time...no shame in that...

and now that the democraps have crowned moon in Washington...well that just seals the deal!...this is a great place to be, http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

My wife says we're all just plain f*ckin' weird. I prefer the term "eclectic" myself personally.

Waffen, wasn't that a line uttered by a character in a David Lynch film, played by Nicholas Cage, as he was released from prison? I just can't quite remember the title of the film. I think Laura Dern also starred in the film. It was one of the strangest, most disturbing movies I ever witnessed!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif Regards, Walter

Thanks Hardrede, I hate it when that happens (forgetting)! However, I've heard it said that those who have a lot on their minds do this, from time to time! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Regards, Walter

Phil: I think I enjoy your posts the most on this board, and this thread and your eloquent dissertation on Thompson owners is probably quite accurate, at least for me in many respects. Owning a Thompson is a symbol of freedom, a symbol of the past when the 2nd Amendment was firm and unbattered, not like today. That is one reason why I hold this firearm in such high regard and cherish owning it. I will fight like hell to insure that the 2nd Amendment suffers no further degredation by taxation regulation, or prohibition... I will fight like hell! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

What do Thompson lovers have in common? Birthdays. The celebration of too many birthdays.
