Did any body make a barrel longer the 16 1/2 , 18 to include the compensator? I have been looking for some definite information on this. Thanks for your help. kilroyjones Posted March 31, 2006 Report Share Posted March 31, 2006 Kahr 1927's have a 16.5" barrel the comp brings it to 18" or 18.5" The M-1 have a 16.5" barrel with no comp Numrich at one time listed a 19" barrel w/o comp. I contacted them last summer and was told they no longer have any 19's available. You might double check with Numrich, as they are always finding "lost" items in warehouses. tow2b Posted April 1, 2006 Author Report Share Posted April 1, 2006 The reason I asked is I picked one up today that has a barrel and comp that is around 21 inches combined. This measured from the front of the receiver to the end of the comp. I have yet to find anybody that has seen a barrel this long. Its made by Kahr and the serial number starts with KA****. M1Brian Posted April 2, 2006 Report Share Posted April 2, 2006 Its a Kahr (ka in the serial # is dead giveaway) and owning semis I can tell you the A1 has a 21" barrel with comp attached and the m1 has 16" barrell with no comp. The only way to go shorter on the A1 is to cut it down and permenantly attach the comp per BATF guidelines for a OAL of 16" unless you go the SBR route. If you look at the Kahr website you will see that the 1927 model does have a 16.5" barrel (18" with comp) and the M-1 has a 16.5" barrel Kahr Info Page My Numrich catalog #26 show a 19" 1927 barrel made to meet Canadian barrel length requirements. This is 19" with no comp. If a standard Kahr barrel is 18" long with comp, and 16.5" without the comp, the comp must be 1.5" long. tow2b posted: "that has a barrel and comp that is around 21 inches combined. " Measured from the front of the receiver you would need to add .5" for the barrel threads in the receiver nose, which gives you 21.5" AOL. Mario Scarpino Posted April 3, 2006 Report Share Posted April 3, 2006 I saw one at a local gun show here in Kansas City about 2 weeks ago with a KA serial number (1927A1). The number was high, like the one you bought. Nobody had a tape measure, but it "looked" like the barrel with compensator was almost 2 feet long. No kidding. It had to be at least 21 inches. The wood on the gun, especially the front vertical grip, looked very good and much improved over the flat, slab sided verticals they used to made. Dealer also had a new L drum on display. It took some effort to get the front cover off, tight fit! I also noticed it had a machined hole through the center pin, like the Colt drums!!!! None of the new L drums I got through the group buy have holes in the pins. They are solid like the West Hurley drums. Gun also had the new round cocking knob, not the ugly piece of crap they sold for many years. Just another variation of the Tommy gun, all you diehards will have to get one to add to your collection.
