Ex Russian Thompsons

A few days ago I was lucky enough to get access to a few crates of those ex Russian Tommys. Luckily I had my camera with me but please remember it was very dark so the images are not so good.

What I saw was:

M1928A1 C's with fixed and adjustable lymans, smooth and finned barrels Savage and AO

M1's with and without rear sight hood all Savage.

Most guns were new/unused, some poorly refinished over heavy pitting.

The guns come in cases of 10 with kit that includes per gun:

5 mags

cleaning rod

oiler

stripping screw driver

5 mag pouch

US GI belt

I'll do some pics of complete kit laid out soon

Thanks for the help Nick!

Enjoy!

Nice pictures.

I have a couple of questions, though.

How do you know the M1 Thompsons were all Savage? Did you examine every one?

Also, the guns appear to have been packed for long term shipping and storage, the pictures you show don't appear to have poor refinishing and severe pitting. I imagine some guns were pitted from improper storage after all these years even with the grease on them, but the pictures appear to show the original black oxide finish in pretty good shape for 60 year old guns.

Just a couple of observations. Thanks for posting the pictures.

The guns are in UK at the moment held by a licenced dealer.

Put it this way, all the M1's I picked up were Savage.

Most are new/original. Most of the rough/pitted re-finish ones were '28's which I had trouble photographing due to light problems. The re-finish ones look like they got used and not put back into storage properly.

Maybe we could get the ATF to amend the importation ruling to allow C&R weapons. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif

WOW!....That just astounds me...to see all those TMSGs...historical find to say the least...I can just imagine trying to clean up those beautys...and then test firing each and every one...taking them all apart...lookin` at the similarities and differences...pulling all of them out the crates...marvelling at the workmanship....rubbing my hands all over.......ah..I gotta go now, http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

I believe these have been posted before and I wish everyone would stop because my heart can only handle so much heartache. Sorta like seeing an innocent child in danger and knowing you are unable to help and have to sit by and watch a terrible situation takes it course knowing that if they would only let you care for those helpless kids they would have a wonderful and loving home.
