NEW Reising Bolts Available Soon

A couple of months ago Frank Iannamico contacted Jason at Indianapolis Ordnance about the possibility of making new bolts and action bars. When I read Frank's post, I contacted Jason and sent him my working and spare pieces of each to measure and evaluate.

Jason just e-mailed me. He is in production on a run of bolts. He is not ready to announce pricing yet but they will be available in the not too distant future. For everyone who's looking for replacements and/or spares, this is your opportunity.

No word on the action bars but they frequently are repairable when they fail so that isn't as much of an issue

I’ve met with a FA gun manufacturer about making Reising bolts. Brought several bolts and other related parts. Last week, they inspected my M50, and are working on a sample. I’ve offered myself and my M50 for beta testing. We haven’t discussed price, but think around $200 or so. He agrees the nonradiused bolt notch is a failure magnet, and will look into a slight mod to the bolt design. They also looked at the firing pin, and will have their Swiss supplier make some.

Another poster here said he found bolts for $100 and asked “what shortage”. I’l like to know what planet he lives on, having looked for years, never finding any. When my bolt broke last spring, another was at hand, but since then the M50 hasn’t been fired. Bolts seem to be the Achilles heel with Reisings; once more can be had it will be fired a lot more. Ironic that, after years of no bolts, at least one and maybe two suppliers will supply these.

Does anyone know if any engineering drawings exist?

If he adds a radius to reduce the stress concentration, he will have to modify the action bar by adding a matching radius to the tip of the lug which engages the notch.

He even got rid of that massive stress concentration at the notch.

You have to modify the lug on the action bar by grinding a small radius on the tip that engages the bolt notch but if that eliminates the bolt shearing off it's a small price to pay. I'm pretty sure the modified action bar would still work with a stock bolt
