It’s been some time since I’ve posted but had an opportunity to pull some things apart on my Montgomery PD AO AC overstamp. As i mention previously it has Colt wood on it. Just curious if this Colt is still around? I understand Montgomery had two Colts and there was some mystery as to what happened to 10640.

Stogie, Yes, your buttstock is indeed a Colt/Remington stock, however, the production number on the buttstocks has nothing to do with the serial number of the Colt's Thompson Submachine Guns. The number on the stocks was merely to reunite the butt plate with the wood after the hand-fitting and bluing process.

If your gun was from the Montgomery, Alabama Police Department, according to Gordon Herigstad's Colt Thompson Serial Numbers, the Montgomery PD had two Colt's, #'s 3684 and 4085. Hope this helps.
