deerslayer Posted August 22, 2005 Author Report Share Posted August 22, 2005 My own creation, .223 surplus tracer bullets, cut the back off where the tracer compound is, drill a hole in the .45 bullet and epoxy them together. deerslayer Posted August 23, 2005 Author Report Share Posted August 23, 2005 I've bought and experimented with the tracer compound and never got it to work. Directions varied from just mix it up (with water) and put it in the cavity to having to compress the stuff to several tons of pressure to form a pellet. The compound has shellack in it and would get nice and hard when it dried. I got lots of smoke when they were fired and I assume the tracer stuff was just burning up in the barrel with the gunpowder. The stuff would burn nicely on the work bench when you touched it with the torch though. Take a second or two to burn out of the base of the bullet. I abandoned the project when the .223 process worked great. I get my .223 from Hi-tech. Nice folks to deal with. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
