Did anyone ever solve the problem with the 27’s that hang up and make it difficult to remove the frame from the receiver?

 

After installing a new bolt and firing pin, my 27 started it.

It also will not hold the firing pin while cocking the bolt, you can hear the

firing pin release while allowing the bolt to slide forward.

While sliding the frame off of the receiver it was under spring tension.

Pulling the trigger while holding the tension released it so it could be removed.

 

There are 2 styles of bolts and firing pins for the 27A1, a long nosed pin and a short.

Also the pin openings are different. A few minor differences in machining of the bolts as well.

 

I received a set of the short nosed version from Gun Parts and the bolt is also hardened more than

the bolt that was supplied with the Kahr 27. While placing the firing pin retracting pin a few small pieces of the bolt chipped out.

 

I’m wondering which of the 2 styles Kahr plans to stay with?

One set could be of old WH stock.

 

What is unfortunate is that some of the parts for the 27 need hand fitted even though the gun is manufactured using computer assisted machines. I’m hoping it’s due to the fact that they are still using up old parts from stock in the newly made arms. You should be able like with the FA to just drop in parts and go.

I had the same problem several years ago with a WH '27. It too was under heavy tension while trying to remove the Frame. It seemed to work out by pulling the Trigger, and forcing the Frame off. Indeed, there was considerable amount of tension with the Spring. Though this only happened once. Not sure what the cause was, other than the bottom of the Firing Pin getting hung up on something. Anyway, the new Pin worked out okay for you Crow?

I plan on working on it more later today. I've stocked up on quite a few parts, extra firing pins in both styles to accommodate the different bolts, and a complete set of internals for the frame as well as a few sets of springs.

It seems that the new bolt "is" of old stock, and 0.053 lower than the Kahr bolt.

I was able to get it to stop hanging during disassembly by working on the firing pin a little more. Now where the problem lies is with the disconnector. Due to the lower bolt it interferes with it's operation.

 

Bottom line, wait until no other options are available, then make the alterations. I picked the AO bolt up as a spare.....
