Gentlemen,

Nice to see a BREN board, here's my 1942 Mk I Enfield.

Balder,

Do you mind if I use the photo of your Bren in the FAQ section at the top of the page? I would credit your screen name below it.

Thanks!

David,

I'd be honored, go for it.

Bob,

It's a Mk I, the Mk I* was only made by Inglis in Canada and didn't have a telescoping bipod. There were also other differences.

Balder - I was curious because I thought the MkI's had the ZB style grooved

front end, and had the second dovetail to the left of the receiver where the

magazine goes, and that subsequent BRENs with the smooth receiver front

and only one dovetail (at the back for the rear sight) were MkI*'s. However,

I just checked and my BREN (made in England) has the smooth front and

one dovetail and its marked "MKI". I did not realize Inglis was the only

manufacturer of the MkI*...there is so much to learn...

Balder,

Your Bren is now the title photo for the Bren reference page pinned at the top of the board. Much appreciated!

All,

I'm looking for other photos of the many Bren accessories, including the Bren Gun Carrier, slings, web gear, cleaning kits, and anything else Bren related to include in the reference section. If anyone has photos they would like to see used online, please forward them to me, and I'll consider them for inclusion.

Thanks!

Bob,

I was a little bit too fast there. What I meant to say was that the Mark I (M) was made by Inglis only. Sorry for the confusion.

I just received an very useful publication for the BREN. It's a 48 page booklet packed with information and schmatics for the different models. The title of this publication is: ".303-in. BREN LIGHT MACHINE GUN" S.A.I.S No. 5 and the author is Ian Skennerton.

This can be ordered from:

Arms and Militaria Press

P.O. Box 5014

Grants Pass,OR 97527
