TSMGguy
Here's a pair of Spanish Astra pistols. The larger of the two is an Astra Model 800 "Condor" in 9mm Luger. The smaller one is an Astra Model 4000 "Falcon" in .380 ACP. The 4000 was also made in .32 ACP and .22, along with caliber conversion kits. Both pistols are refinements of earlier Astra 300, 400, 600, and 3000 pistols. These are straight blow back designs that differ from earlier models in that they have external hammers and no grip safeties. The 4000 bears an 01 year code, for 1970. The 800 is D1, for 1958. While they are not particularly modern in their designs, they do work very well. These are not commonly encountered in the US, and were apparently more popular in Europe. EDIT: The 4000 looks almost as big as the 800 in the pics. That's a trick of the camera angle. The 800 is a full size service automatic, and the 4000 is very much a pocket pistol.
