Arthur Fliegenheimer
It would be if it weren't for a Lewis Gun drum.

koldt
If it's this leather pouch you are talking about, Thompson SMG Leather Drum Magazine Case Military Gun 6512707185 , I have owned 2 of them.. Both were dated 1918. After a lot of research I found that these leather "drum" pouches were actually for survey equipment. Here is the email I sent the seller. Dear pikeandthewildbunch!, Hi, FYI, I have owned 2 of those leather pouches... Both, unfortunately were dated 1918. I did some reseach, and found that these pouches were actually for a piece of survey/engineer equipment and NOT a Thompson SMG accessory. The most obvious clue was the fact that they were both dated 1918, 3 years before the Thompson was ever sold. Sorry to have to advise you of this. It may come back to haunt you. However, I see that it was sold through the 'buy it now' feature...
junkyard4$
That's a case for an altimeter. A Thompson drum will fit if you jump up and down a few times. It’s kind of funny, I have seen more of these cases than I have altimeters, usually it’s the other way around.
Sgt
This reminds me of the leather drum case you used to see on Ebay. It was a round leather case, but was probably used for holding film. I know, I got one; the drum won't even squeeze in. You can always carry your flapjacks to work in it.
