Oldtrooper
I came across this auction for a NPM M1 carbine ... Did I miss something in the text? "All parts are not correct for this serial number but close" $8000.00 My NPM carbine is way nicer than this one. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/891550967
StrangeRanger
If you look at his other ads you'll see that everything he's trying to sell is overpriced usually by a lot. He's trolling for uninformed buyers.
jim c 351
Oldtrooper,Something strange is going on at GB.I recently witnessed an ad for a M1911A1, made by US&S and the bid was up to $10,000,000.00.The same seller also had a Colt Python that was also bid up to $10,000,000,00.I tried to find the several days later and failed. Very strange.Perhaps some sort of sabotage.Jim C Edited February 18, 2021 by jim c
thirtyround
Perhaps "They" are using GB as a platform to sell other than firearm related items. Dont ask me to elaborate. The world is a cruel place.
TSMGguy
We're seeing this kind of thing quite a bit. A seller lists an item at a very high price. The listing is just free advertising. There's no intention of selling the item on Gunbroker. The actual sale takes place elsewhere, cutting GB out of the commission. jim c 351
TSMGuy,The add that I mentioned above had about 16 bidders.Jim C
StrangeRanger
Those 8 figure bids were online vandalism pure and simple. The ads were quite probably real but the bidder(s) who bid them into the ionosphere were using fake IDs and fake accounts to gum up the works
Frank Iannamico
Perhaps attempting to "artificially" increase the market value of a particular item. I have seen it happen, years ago a guy with a large luger collection placed ads at way over market prices. Other potential sellers see the inflated prices and pretty soon a new benchmark price has been established, And now the luger guy starts selling off his collection. More recently (actually a few years ago) S&W Model 76 subguns were selling for around $4500.00. One day a S&W 76 is advertised for $6500.00 and marked SOLD by the end of the day. After that $6500.00 became the new benchmark. Mysteriously that '76 appeared again for sale.a month later.

peter kohler
ive been in the market for an m1. been looking at them daily for months on gb. I see the same guns listed over and over. ive actually bid on several that have been listed several times with zero interest and 24 hours before the auction ends someone bids a hundred dollars higher. and then a few days later its back on the market. 8000 for a non matching m1 is a bit much. for that kind of money it would have to be pristine. good luck to whom ever buys it. Sandman1957
What kind of M1? Thompson, Garand, Carbine...
Sandman1957
Frank, concur with the "artificially" inflate the market. Look at NFA items on gunbroker... unless I'm off on current prices, member(s) here have stuff for sale that I think is shakey jake as well... Best one is a ladder sight for a '21 at S1000.
