TNKen
Long hard fight with lung cancer. Fortunately, he was in the hospice house with good care, and his passing was peaceful without struggle. To you my good friend, you will be missed. 85th Engineer
A generation is passing that will never be equaled. We owe them a lot and especially freedom itself.

Walter63a
TNKen, I hope that you grow from your temporary loss [We will see and be with them again.], hard and great though it is, into newfound strength! My father was also a WWII vet (died in 1991). Let's all honor them (all veterans), exercising one of the rights so many of them fought and/or died to preserve, by voting next Tuesday! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif Best Regards, Walter
TNKen
Found out last night at the reception for friends how he came up with his collection of swords and daggers. Seems like he and his buddies "took care of business" then procured the pieces. Two sabers and some boot daggers. I asked on several occasions, but he didn't want to talk about it. Uncle Hugh took the pieces for a collector to look at, and told them the story. Was helping his wife find his discharge papers and ran across the authorization where he got permission to bring his Walther P-38 home. Too bad it didn't have a Thompson or an MG-34 listed on it!! Burial is today, wish us luck. Ken
Hurridale
Ken, Best of luck today -- 'been thru too many funerals myself, and every one is hard. The good news is that, unlike Life, the memories he shared with you will not pass. Regards and best wishes, DC
