Kahr 1927a1

Recommended Posts

A few photos of my Kahr 27 after a visit with PK, I had the bbl swapped for a 10.5", and the bolt hold open feature with Savage GI parts.

I don't know how any semi owner could live without the hold open feature.

To date I've managed with PK's help to get all the mags, and drums working reliably. It shoots fantastic off hand at 50, 100, & 200 yards.

I did have an extractor break after about 1000 rounds of Wolf, but no problems with feeding or accuracy.

I still have more work to be done in the future.

As I write I am finishing a new front grip from Deerslayer.

yes grey crow you do own a thompson, and it looks nice........

glad you joined the club..................this ole tommygun guy or should i say "Chicago Typewriter Company"since i did own it..........{the company}

be proud of what you have and don't let anybody knock it............semi-full auto whatever...they are all in the family........and have a true history back to the first one that came off the line..........i have been into these for over 33 years now, longer if i include the black patent pend tommy squirtgun in 1958.......wink!!

and over those years have owned over 100 colt's..........and over 35 of the militaries and 1928's and semi's...............................

and over all those years and thompson's i never said to somebody you have junk,or its not a thompson.............or what!! you only can buy that???

who care's you are enjoying in life what you like and if its thompson's go for it...........

there are only a few out there that can match my history with the stuff,and at last count this past three years,three are now dead.......and the rest i can count on my two hand's..........{yep can still count}

you will come across all kinds in the thompson market, for the most part they are all great guys and gal's..once in a while you might hit a stumbling block..............carry no ill will.it will pass, and life is way too short in the thompson process................to let sombody else.no matter if its a rude comment>>>>to destroy the tommygun dream's.......

well off the platform for tonight................

enjoy what you have...............yes its a thompson........

and i will not ever argue with anybody on this fine thompson board about that.......i have too much fun reading the posts.from everyone..........wink!!

take care,colt 21a..........RON

Gray Crow:

Beautiful! May I use one of your images in the FAQ? I think there is room, to express an issue.

BTW: The white lettering: did it come from the factory that way?

Tell us about that long magazine. Is it a optical dillusion or is it a longer mag? That does look nice. Enjoy it, until that FA gun comes along. And nice white lettering.

Thanks for the great comments!

Sure Chris, you are more than welcome to use any of the images for the FAQ section.

More are available at www.1927a1.com

White lettering? Actually it's an original 1927A1. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

I did the white lettering for the photos, used the ole laquer stick from Brownell's.

The magazine is a 55 round made by Tactical Innovations

2 pre-ban XXX mags. skillfully welded together. Works very well! LOL, it's almost a mono-pod.....

I have a few plans on financing one of the older Thompson's. One goal is an original Colt 1927, if one can be found.

It also speaks volumes about PK's masterful working of the Art...

I vote that we make him a National Treasure!

Or, at least a PK link with all of the incredible work he has done to these dogs over the years!

The old crap goes to him and comes back a dream come true!

Gorgeous gun!

I hope my gun turns out that nice, but it will not have bolt hold open feature.

PK sure does good work!

On the range the 27 did very well. (well until the extractor broke.) I lifted the imitation ladder site and was smacking a rock on the side of the mountain consistently at 200 yards. I was impressed at how much energy still existed from the small capacity and high bullet weight of the .45, it was neat seeing puffs of dust fly when they hit.

Groups at 50 yards were good using the combat site as well.

After re-chambering, installing the barrel, and adjusting for proper headspace, PK test fired it and zeroed for 50 yards.

Has anyone ever met someone at the range that you wish you hadn't?

This guy was there that really reminded me of "Pyle" from Full Metal Jacket.

Scary very Scary!

He said he was fired from the Marine Corps., even more scary.

I was like, well my extractor broke (thank god) I have to go now..... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif

Since I bought the 27 about 2 years ago, I've amassed quite a bit of Thompson collectibles. Thompsonitis comes in many forms! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
