dalbert
All, In case you haven't heard, next weekend at the Ohio Gun Collectors Association Show, near Wilmington, Ohio, The American Thompson Association will recreate the NRA 2008 "Best Display," which is titled, "Dr. Calvin Goddard: CSI: St. Valentine's Day Massacre." Lt. Mike Kline of the Berrien County, Michigan Sheriff's Department will have the SVDM Thompsons there on display, and several lectures will be given on the subject on Saturday, 11/19/11, and Sunday, 11/20/11. If you are a member, you certainly will want to attend this one. If you are not a member, you will want to make friends with a member, and see if they will sign you in as a guest. Here are some photos from the 2008 display, which were also featured in a Small Arms Review article that I wrote on the subject. http://www.sturmgewehr.com/dalbert/SVDM/GoddardDisplay-1.JPG http://www.sturmgewehr.com/dalbert/SVDM/No2347.JPG http://www.sturmgewehr.com/dalbert/SVDM/No7580.JPG I hope to see you there! dalbert
Well the Goddard display is set up, and we'll add the SVDM Thompsons to it in the morning. It was kind of a deja vu of 3 years ago, setting it up again today. It opens up at 8am tomorrow, and I know we'll have a lot of traffic. TD.
It was a a big day for Thompson Submachine Guns at the Ohio Gun Collectors Association (OGCA) meeting. I believe every member stopped by for a look and some conversation. There are a lot of tired TATA members tonight! Lt. Mike Kline of the Berrien County Sheriff's Department put on his normal fabulous show. The first presentation was standing room only. I believe the attendees could have stayed forever asking questions about the massacre, Dr. Calvin Goddard and the infamous two Thompson guns. The display will be up again on Sunday with two more presentations. OGCA members will be talking about this display for a long time.
dalbert
We had a great response to the Goddard/SVDM Thompson display at OGCA this weekend! Over 400 signatures were gained on the petition to have Calvin Goddard featured on a U.S. postage stamp as the father of firearm forensics, and CSI. Lt. Mike Kline gave 4 lectures on the subject, and I know everyone who attended them will remember the experience forever. From the board, I saw wwiifirearms, PhilOhio, as well as TD. and First Sergeant, who both worked the display. Now I'm ready to sit down and watch some football for a while... First Sergeant
I agree with David. It was a great display that was well received by OGCA members and guests. David, Tracie, Mike and TD did a wonderful job. I was honored to be part of it.

dalbert
Tried to edit the above post for spelling but recieved a CK EDITOR error. Guess I'm more tired than I thought. Sorry guys. Chuck, I edited it for you. I'll see if I can figure out what's up with the edit message you received. I hope someone has some pictures to share Ron, Hopefully we will get some pictures, but I didn't take them like I usuallly do. OGCA doesn't allow pictures normally, and they made an exception for the display, but I still felt like I shouldn't use the camera. Plus, it was so crowded that there were very few opportunities to get good pictures. It looked almost exactly the same as the 2008 NRA display in Louisville. I forgot to mention that we had one special visitor...Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine spent about 15 minutes at the display on Saturday. ron_brock
David, I totally forgot about the camera rule. Hopefully someone did get one. Thanks to yourself and all those who made this display possible. I wish I could have been there to see it and am glad to hear it was so well received by the OGCA community! - Ron
