TSMGguy
It can be seen right off the bat that the lower serial number was engraved and not originally roll marked as was the upper. Font and depth should match precisely, being done with the same dies at the same time. These don't.
Motorcar
Still pretty nice! And a Pre-May Sample... I pass through "Mo City" weekly...had no idea that was hiding there..
reconbob
I just looked at the pictures and you are correct. The serial number on the trigger frame is an obvious fake. The 4 on the receiver is closed which is correct for the original numbering dies. The 4 on the trigger frame is open - this is the 4 you get with hand stamps.Bob Edited August 16, 2020 by reconbob
DZelenka
Here is the 4 on mine. Definitely not the same.
reconbob
It's not right that a heavy hitter like Frank endorses this. The auction should beredone to reflect the actual condition of the gun. If its an honest mistake, OK.But still it should be done over. Bob
Frank Iannamico
You guys are correct, the lower has been remarked.Wasn't really interested in the gun, looked at it very briefly and posted it here in case anyone was interested. Not endorsing it, just passing it along. reconbob
Well hold on here....you say that you've bought several guns fromthe guy and that he is a good guy to deal with, and you have pointedthousands of people to this auction and described the gun as "prettynice". That sounds like an endorsement to me, especially in light ofyour position at the very top of the Thompson pyramid. I don't thinkit's right for you to now assume the position of "yeah, OK, the trigger frame has been faked, but it's not my problem". Since you know theseller I think you at least have to try to have him correct the auction. Bob
Frank Iannamico
Well The first day it was posted here someone commented that the lower was remarked, so THOUSANDS of people are aware don't you think? I told him about the markings its up to him to change it. I was endorsing the seller more than the gun.
Gio
FrankI dont think its necessary to take the post down. You took a look and thought it might be a good buy no harm or fowl.I thought the same on a quick look. If one was interested they should do their own due diligence. If cheap enough it still could be a good buy. Frank

Tiz
Wow Frank. Tough crowd. As someone posted earlier, everyone needs to do their own do diligence before spending that amount of money. Nothing to be sorry about.
