Considering that he knew that a no bolt stock was for a model 1921 or a 1928 Navy model, he surely would have known about the "anchor" mark and would have shown it as proof in the auction. I think it is post-Colt no-bolt stock. There is no such thing as a "colt" stock, all wood used on the 15,000 colt examples was made by Remington. However, I agree that this looks like WW2 era wood. TD. Posted February 20, 2005 Report Share Posted February 20, 2005 This buttstock matches the one I received from Omega when I purchased my 1928 parts kit last year. I also compared it (and mine) with a picture of a known Colt (Remington) buttstock in Tracie's book. I don't think this is a Colt buttstock. The auction was originally posted with a Buy it Now of $50.00 last week. When no one bit, the seller reduced the price until someone could not resist. gijive Posted February 20, 2005 Report Share Posted February 20, 2005 It's an early WWII variety buttstock. The hand stamped numbers are smaller than the stamping dies used on Colt era butt stocks.
