MARK2112
does anyone know about my drum...who made it and when, I can post better pictures if needed.
ron_brock
Have a look at the pinned magazine section. Based on the solid rotor I would say West Hurley or Model Gun Corp. You could post better pics to confirm, but you should see a match in the pinned section. T Hound
Fantastic and Beautiful work! I am jealous brother! Definitely going to have to build one of my own display Thompsons now!
fortyfivecal
here is the display stand i had Dave from Thompsonbarrels.com make for me,it isn't stained yet but the COLT MODEL 1921 and the Thompson signature are inletted from walnut .i believe it to be the best stand out there and gives a nice unobstructed view of the gun. A kit is only as good as how its displayed. Its heavy duty and has inserted metal nuts pressed into the upright so its very ridged. The standoff pegs are made of delrin so there is no metal on metal contact.it is cant adjustable and a nice adhesive felt was added to the bottom. Kudos to Dave for such a fine piece of hardware for my hardware. he seems eager to make more and id really like to see him make more of these for whatever firearm your displaying. Again, thank you for your business and the mention Mark. In the manner I construct them they can be taken apart readily and re-assembled, with both permanence in mind and for someone who wishes to display their fine firearm at a gunshow and needs to transport the stand easily. The only limit to what goes on the stand is the owners imagination, variations from basic paint and stencil, to different woods and other materials including both custom text or laser cut images. I have a good connection with a laser shop, and he does very nice work. The next project is to find the balance points for an MG34 and alter the stand to safely support the additional length and weight of a larger firearm. The stand made from sufficiently thick black plastic, and the upright support laser cut with a grey relief of the Wehrmacht/Heer symbol seen on the WWII issue helmets. My M1/M1A1 display Thompson needs a stand of it's own to, perhaps the base laser cut, with a period map of Normandy featuring St. Mere Eglise, with the " Kilroy was here " cartoon on the upright... Thanks again for your order Mark, you re-awakened my interest in these stands. Edited December 31, 2014 by fortyfivecal

MARK2112
rather than duplicating it, you should have this American craftsman make it for you.this is his design and would like to see him make the stand the correct way and not just "half assed" throw something togeather.the cost was really reasonable and the detail was exquisite. Most likely a collector would buy if they needed this variant for their collection or a semi owner who wants a drum not knowing about the Taiwanese drums that are available for around $150 and work well. A West Hurley drum may or may not work well out of the box. Hope this helpsRon

Gio
Mark, You asked for feedback so here goes. The bad thing on building a 21 Thompson is it has to be all Colt. I can't tell from the picture if you used a Colt barrel doesn't look like it to me, has the wrong mag catch and you state the Savage actuators aren't going with it. Their is no serial # on the receiver and don't know what lower you used. Don't take this badly it is a good looking display Thompson but not a 21. With that said your price for me is a little sporty. When I built mine I uses a Savage parts kit and made it into a early 28. Mine does have a high serial # but it does match the lower. Just my 2 cents Frank

darrylta
To be honest, I'm a little dismayed on your selling the display gun.We have painfully endured the process of building this display gun and I find ithilarious that your flipping it so soon. This is my personal opinion of course:-)-Darryl

MARK2112
No ron, kinda got talked out of that idea.i didnt engrave the serial on the receiver either as i kinda wanted to wait and see if i eventually found a colt lower that i could match it to.and when i started seeing the prices of colt stuff that turned me off quickly.big plans on a small budget i guess.
