Wtk Ideas On Extra Parts For M1 Tsmg

Recommended Posts

For a Savage M1 Thomson Subgun, besides ammo, mags and more ammo, would appreciate ideas on what to keep on hand for two cases:

Common parts to have on hand for field repares (aka good travel bag for out of town match, range etc.).

Options on a 50 year parts kit (assume one barrel, couple set of higher wear items etc.).

Thanks

John

Update from search:

Earlier Posting on Spare Parts recommending spare bolt complete with firing pin, spring, hammer and hammer pin and extractor. Then a spare lower complete and a spare barrel like the one on the gun.

I'd suggest a barrel, a set of springs, a buffer, and a magazine catch. These seem to be the parts getting the most wear. OTOH, I've put quite literally tens of thousands of rounds through my M1 TSMG, and the only thing that failed was the rear sight rivets. (I still like to have a few spares handy "just in case" though.)

Thanks for the ideas on back up parts, will have to check out the suppliers listed in the FAQ (any preference on suppliers?).

The "M1" I am looking at has the rear sight with wings spot welded to the receiver, is this a rebuild type option or "someones latter change?", also the front of the rear sight base slightly covers the rear edge of the top logo.

Thanks

John

Did that with the HK MP5, however, looks like my "parts kit" is being traded off on the M1 http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif
