Johnny.45
Hi, A Group Industries BAR sold on subguns.com for $16K and there is an Ermco BAR advertised for $18.5K and now this Group Industries BAR for $17K on sturmgewehr. Could someone tell me how far off these asking prices are in todays BAR market? Thanks, Johnny
John Jr
Six months ago, you could buy these things (there was like 4 of them all at the same time) for 9500, I turned down several of these (finally decided against a BAR). That "GUSTAFSON" one which was a swedish version that was actually C&R, they couldn't move that thing for like a year at 15K. Now 17K for a Group? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif I will take $45K for my Thompson too... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif Jr
Johnny.45
O.K. Thanks for the info, but they seem to be selling now for $15-$16K. Johnny
fifthmdec
Johnny, I sold my Group Industries 1918A2 BAR for $13,000 in 1/04, it sold in about a month. Honestly, they are worth more than $10,000, but if you really want one start off at $13,500 and go from there. Any C&R BAR is between $19,000 and $30000 for the Colts. You can expect around 10% a year appreciation. Guys almost always ask too much in the hope that someone bites. Remember, greed never takes a day off. Some of the Thompson guys are just as greedy with their asking prices...
Johnny.45
fithmdec, Thanks for the info on BARs. That is exactly what I was looking for. There seems to be a wide price range on the repro BARs that I have seen advertised and your info and advice helps. I really appreciate your help on this topic. fifthmdec
Johnny, Your welcome, as it would be nice if the guys would cool it with the flippant remarks when a guy would like some serious information. Good luck and just stay the course...
leid
The "as new" Group for 17K sold. Now there is one for 18.5K, and the description of condition is not "as new". Supply of BARs and TSMGs is limited & demand is growing with every WW2 movie put out. Another Tom Hanks movie is on the horizon so find a good one now or you will regret it. harvester of sorrow
I bought this BAR. As for today's prices, I saw one in SAR a few months ago for $13500 (I think), but didn't have money at the time http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif Recently, I've seen Group guns for as high as 22000 (although I don't think they'll sell at that price). Anyways, 17000 was the best price I've seen for any BAR recently. I understand that Internet prices are higher than dealing with real people, but I don't live in a place with lots of stocking dealers anywhere close. I haven't seen this gun yet, but I certainly don't regret it. I can't wait! Next year I'm hoping for the WH M1a1!
