WTB: Colt era Model 21 Lyman Rear Sight Assy

I am preparing to restore a neglected Colt that has recently resurfaced. Looking for the above and a period compensator.

Finish isn't that important, but I would like to avoid any pitting.

I read somewhere that Lyman had a barrel full of rear sights lying around in their warehouse, and when Thompson production started up again, they rolled it out.

So how can you tell which one is "Colt era"?

See the bottom of page 19 in A Thompson Compendium to see the difference between a Lyman Colt era rear sight and a World War II Lyman rear sight.

 

I too heard the story of the barrel of left-over Lyman rear sights from the Colt era being sent to Savage Arms when production resumed. I collect information on the earliest Savage guns and have never found a Colt era rear sight on a Savage gun. It is certainly possible, but I have not seen it during my years long research.

Sarco has M1928A1 Lyman 55B sights. They sell them on Gunbroker for (I think) $335 as Ocras - Sarco backwards - but direct on their website for $245.

What does a clean Colt era 55B sell for these days? I dont think Ive ever seen one offered for sale that wasnt part of a 21 parts kit.
