MP34 barrel?

Recommended Posts

(Hopefully this is kosher, I didn't see anything in the rules about new members not being allowed to post buy requests but if it's not OK I apologize.)

A few months ago I purchased a MP34 converted to semi-auto. The gun has a barrel extension rather lazily attached to make it NFA compliant. I would like to SBR it and put on a regular barrel to make it look proper but unfortunately both Indianapolis Ordnance and Pike Arms are out of stock. Does anyone here have a repro or original barrel chambered in 9mm Luger they'd be willing to sell me?

The gun is a 1942 Portuguese contract gun in 9mm with the short magwell. Closed bolt conversion was done by moving the sear forward and adding a protruding notch on the bottom of the bolt attached to a spring loaded piece that the firing pin rides on. Pretty simple! I've seen pictures of a couple different ways these have been converted to semi-auto, usually by making a two piece bolt carrier system unlike this one. The selector switch has been converted to act as a safety although the top cover retains the ability to lock the bolt either open or closed. Interestingly the ability to lock the bolt closed combined with the closed bolt conversion allows the gun to be fired while the bolt is locked closed. I'm not brave enough to try this with live ammo though!

Oh and for anyone else who might be looking for this answer in the future: These use C96 clips for the magazine loader but for whatever reason many of them (repros maybe?) are too thick front to back to fit in the guide slot. The ones that fit are about 0.16" thick and the ones that don't fit are about 0.18" thick. I have a C96 which came with 6 clips, 5 marked DWM and one unmarked. The unmarked one fits and the unmarked one does not. I was able to contact a seller on eBay to confirm the unmarked clip they were selling was the right thickness and it showed up today and does indeed work.
