AZDoug
I have an original NY/NY drum. I don't know how to describe the finish. other than it is a fuzzy black matte. You know, the std finish you see on all original drums. I have WWII drum, either a Crosby, or Seymour, (I can't remember w/o opening the safe), but it has more of a blued, shiny finish like you get when you blue a gun in bluing salts. What is the finish on the original drum, and how do they get that matte appearance? Is it parkerized, or was the metal treated some way prior to salt bath bluing to give it that non-reflective matte? Thanks, Doug
PK.
Hi Doug, been meaning to say welcome. I believe they were “sand blasted†with fine grit prior to bluing.
